Recent work

World-building is an essential element in story telling, and nothing completes a show like seeing that world come to life. My primary training in carpentry was working in Kalamazoo College's scene shop, with the late and incomparable Jon Reeves. I also had the opportunity to develop my skills as a painter, metal worker, and designer. I spent two summers as the primary scenic carpenter and painter at Bay View Music Festival.Moving to NYC to pursue this path was interrupted by a pandemic, but as theater started to come back opportunities were popping up. Recently, I have had the pleasure of working on incredible productions, such as Until at Theater for The New City, The Picher Project at Dixon Place, and Moon School at the Tank. Early 2024 I took an exam to be a scenic painter with the IATSE local 829, and I'm thrilled for the opportunities ahead!Questions? Thoughts? Mocking remarks? Shoot me an email at [email protected] , I want to hear it all!

PORTRAIT WORK

I've had the pleasure of enjoying a variety of relationships with animals, be it a cat that grew up alongside me, a rescued dog, or a horse that I learned alongside with. Capturing these one of a kind relationships has been one of my favorite practices as an artist, and with each new wrinkly face, glossy coat and mess of whiskers I learn a bit more about cherishing the details of the creatures around us. If you're interested in getting a portrait for your own companion please reach out at [email protected]

Many memories are made inside and outside buildings. The memories of a first home, favorite library, or first apartment door are details that often slip by. Living in New York there are all shapes and sizes of apartments, stores and parks to experience life in, and why should they not be preserved in a painting?
